The holiday season is just around the corner, and what better way to add a personal touch to your home than by making your own Christmas ornaments? In this post, I will show you how to create beautiful, fluffy yarn wreaths that are perfect for the tree. Ready to get crafty? Let’s dive in!
What you’ll need:
1 wooden ring (mine are 6cm in diameter but can be bigger)
Fluffy yarn ( I use about 3 meters for a 6cm diameter ring)
A bow
Red ribbon (for the candy cane effect))
Some nice string to hang
Hot glue gun and glue sticks or universal glue
Scissors
Step-by-Step: How to make your fluffy wreath ornaments
Step 1: Attach the yarn to the ring
Take your fluffy yarn and fold it in half to find the middle.
Slide the looped end under the wooden ring to begin your lark knot.
Pull the yarn ends through the loop and tighten it to secure it around the ring.
Step 2: Wrap the yarn around the ring
Hold the lark knot tightly with one hand and start wrapping the yarn around the ring with your other hand.
Make sure each wrap is close together to ensure the wreath looks fluffy and full.
Keep wrapping until the ring is completely covered, then make a loop with the yarn and pull the ends through to create a knot.
Repeat the process to make a double knot, securing the yarn tightly in place.
Trim off any excess yarn to keep everything neat.
Step 3: Add the string for hanging
Take one piece of string and tie it around the ring, using a double knot.
Bring the two ends of the string together and tie another knot at the top to make a hanging loop
Step 4: Attach the bow to the wreath
Heat up your hot glue gun and apply a small amount of glue to the back of the bow.
Press the bow firmly onto the wreath where the string is tied to the wreath.
Hold it for a few seconds to make sure the glue sets and the bow stays in place.
You can also add some ribbon to create a candy cane effect, here is how:

Step 3: Add the red ribbon
Take about 50 cm of red ribbon (for a 6 cm diameter ring) and glue one end at an angle on the top of your wreath.
Wrap the ribbon around the wreath in a spiral, spacing each wrap so the white fluffy yarn shows between the red sections, creating a candy-cane effect. Continue wrapping evenly until you reach the starting point.
Trim any excess ribbon so that the end neatly overlaps the starting point. Add a final dot of glue to secure it in place.
